Chaos-to-order transition in spherical heavy nuclei

Description

Contrary to the conventional view of spherical nuclei as being chaotic in nature, we find, by means of level statistics, that some heavy nuclei exhibit deviations toward regularity unlike the predictions of the random matrix theory. We show that the degree of regularity is closely connected to the ratio of the nuclear size to the range of the nuclear force
