Description

The results of mapping the 350μm emission around the bipolar outflow source GL 490 are presented. IRAS observations of this source are also reported. The 350μm data show the source to be extended north-south. These results are interpreted in terms of a disc of dust and gas surrounding the central embedded young star but it is shown that it is incapable of channelling the bipolar molecular outflow. The outflow must therefore be collimated on scales smaller than 1017 cm. (author)
