Investigation of binding properties of the CdO-WO3-H2O system

  • 1. Tomskij Inzhenerno-Stroitel'nyj Inst. (USSR)

Description

Binding properties of the CdO-WO3-H2O system have been studied under different conditions of hardening. The binding properties have been evaluated by measuring the strength limit when the samples have been pressed in usual, hydrothermal, and autoclave conditions. The strength of the hardened structures has been determined by optimum values of the molecular ratio CdO:WO3, water content in the initial mixture, specific pressure of pressing, and duration of hardening. To determine phase composition of new formations which make up the hardening structures, the products of hardening have been subjected to chemical, X-ray phase and infrared-spectroscopic analyses. It has been shown that the formation of the hardening structures is a result of the cadmium tungstate formation of the CdWO4 composition
