Instability of a beam of relativistic electrons in a plane drift space
- 1. Scientific-Research Institute of Nuclear Physics at the S. M. Kirov Tomsk Polytechnic Institute
Description
The hydrodynamics equations of an electron beam in a plane space have two steady-state solutions for certain values of the parameters. For the nonrelativistic case in one of these states the beam has a negative differential conductivity and therefore is unstable. The analogous problem for a relativistic beam is solved and the stability of the steady-state solutions obtained is investigated
