Research of the λ/4 periodically loaded transmission line cavity

Description
The transmission character of the periodically capacitor loaded coaxial transmission line is analyzed. The authors applied this kind of transmission line into the 1/4 wavelength transmission line cavity design. With both the transmission line theory and numerical simulation methods, the authors obtained the resonating frequency and Q factor as functions of the disk radius and the disk numbers. The possibility of this kind of method in decreasing the cavity's volume is discussed and its application in the design of the RF cavity of a proton cyclotron is presented as well
