Neutron radiography techniques at Sandia National Laboratories, Albuquerque (SNLA)
Description
Previously existing neutron radiographic techniques at SNLA proved inadequate to resolve individual component layers within a thermal battery cell stack. This paper describes the investigation that was successfully conducted to improve the technique and achieve the necessary resolution. Another improvement that has been investigated is the installation of a cold neutron capability. This investigation, conducted by an outside contractor, shows clearly that a greatly improved neutron radiography capability for some conditions would be gained. No determination has been made at this time whether or not it will be installed. (Auth.)
