Evaluation of passive safety injection system

Description
The passive safety injection system (PSIS) requirements from the advanced light water reactor (ALWR) plant requirements document and descriptions from the open literature on the Westinghouse AP600 pressurized water reactor (PWR) were reviewed to develop a PWR PSIS system description for this assessment. The PSIS is based on a reactor with a thermal power of 1,812 MW(t). The system description emphasizes the physical size, layout, and configuration of the pressure boundary hardware. In addition to the system description, this paper describes system operation, functions, performance requirements, and scope of transient and safety analyses
