Vacuum structure and the fermion-boson transformation
Description
A simplified version of the Schwinger model is used to illustrate some typical features of the coupling between the fermion and gauge field sector caused by gauge invariance. Two different representations of the model: the bosonized version and the instanton representation: are obtained in a simple form. These representations are particularly useful for illustrating the effect of the fermions on topological properties of the model in the gauge field sector
