Study of mist formation in a convective field

  • 1. Kanazawa Univ. (Japan). Faculty of Technology

Description

Observations were made on the mist formation in natural convective turbulent flow along a vertical plane. The aim of the observations was to clarify the mechanism of mist formation by the critical supersaturation model (CSM) in a turbulent field. Noaphthalene vapor was condensed in the air with sufficient external kernels. Theoretical analysis was also made on the effect of the turbulent fluctuation on the condition of mist formation. The observed experimental results are compared with the results of theoretical analysis in which the fluctuating component is taken into account, and some conclusions are drawn based on the comparison.
