Collective flow and the stiffness of compressed nuclear matter

Description

Sideward flow parameters for Ar+KCl at 1.2 and 1.8 A GeV are compared with VUU model predictions for different nuclear equations of state. This model indicates that compressional effects are needed to account for the observed flow. Various uncertainties hinder a precise determination of the compressibility; our current best estimate lies somewhere between the so-called ''medium'' and ''stiff '' equations of state
