Comparison of solar activity indices for purpose of simulation of f0F2 median values
- 1. Gidrometeorologicheskaya Sluzhba, Moscow (USSR)
Description
Comparison of approximation accuracy of f0F2 monthly median values concerning Moscow from solar activity level, where both direct solar (W, F10.7, I58.4) and ionosphere GESSN indices of solar activity are used as its indices, is conducted. It is shown, that approximation accuracy with GESSN usage is by 30-50% higher, than at W usage. F10.7 and I58.4 indices have small advantage (∼10%) concerning accuracy over W index in summer and equinox times. Application of GESSN indices instead of W ones in Forecast of maximal applicable frequencies model allows to increase accuracy of f0F2 model description. Depending on season and station latitude the accuracy may be increased by 6-40%, it is of interest for solution of ionosphere forecast problem
