Modernization of the Kozloduy NPP units 5 and 6 - a guarantee for security of energy supply on the Balkans
Description
In this paper a brief review of energy production and energy consumption in Bulgaria as well as the important role of the Kozloduy NPP units 5 and 6 in the energy industry in the country are discussed. The main measures implemented at units 5 and 6 during the modernization programme are presented and a full list of the measures is given. There are 140 measures connected with nuclear safety and 93 of them are already implemented and 32 will be completed till 2006. The main results from measures implementation are shown. At the end author concluded that the most important part from units 5 and 6 modernization programme realization is the operational safety improvement of the units that will lead to a long-term and reliable energy supply
