Dilute chemical decontamination of BWR primary recirculation piping

  • 1. London Nuclear Services, Inc., Niagara Falls, New York

Description

London Nuclear has applied the CAN-DECON process to the recirculation piping of BWRs in a variety of techniques, utilizing flow through the vessel annulus, and utilizing a cut and cap approach to avoid flow through the annulus. London Nuclear has developed a technique to apply chemical decontamination to the recirculation system, avoiding the annulus, and also avoiding the need for a cut and cap approach. These techniques have enabled London Nuclear, with its clients, to reduce radiation exposures by an estimated 12,000 Rem since LN began applying the CAN-DECON Process in 1979
