A seismic calculation for transmission towers

  • 1. Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, Dept. of Civil Engineering, Dalian Univ. of Technology, Dalian 116023 (China)

Description

In this paper, mechanical models for long-span transmission line systems under elastic and gravitational restoring forces are established in three different directions; this continues the authors' previous works. The equations of vibrations for the systems under the action of earthquakes are derived and the approaches to solve the relevant problems are given. Finally, the response of a practical system composed of 60kV transmission lines and their supporting towers is computed for the earthquake excitations
