Solvent extraction study of thorium from analytical waste containing phosphoric acid
- 1. Fuel Chemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
- 2. Radiochemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
Trialkylphosphine oxide (TRPO) in cyclohexane was used as an extractant to study the feasibility of recovery of thorium from laboratory waste generated, while estimating thorium using concentrated phosphoric acid. A few parameters such as the effects of concentration of nitric acid, sodium nitrate, TRPO and sulphuric acid strippant were studied and are discussed. (author)
