The influence of surface conditions on magnetic properties of sintered Co5Sm magnets
Description
Small samples of sintered Co5Sm magnets exhibit a kinked demagnetization curve after grinding. The kinks are removed by short etching, but are restored by aging at 100-2000C. The aging is interpreted as a selective oxidation, thus forming a Sm-depleted surface layer which acts as nucleation site for magnetization reversal. (Auth.)
