Study on extraction behavior of Pu(III) in HBTMPDTP (kerosene)-HNO3 system

Description
Extraction chemical behavior of Pu(III) by bis(2,4,4-trimethylpentyl)-dithio-phosphinic acid (HBTMPDTP) was studied. The distribution ratios of Pu(III) were varied with stirring time, pH of equilibrated aqueous phase, salinity, concentration of HBTMPDTP, and temperature. The equation of extraction was obtained and some parameters such as equilibrium constant, extraction enthalpy, extraction entropy were calculated. Comparing with other actinide ions, extraction of Pu(III) by HBTMPDTP is easier than that of Am3+ and Cm3+. The order of the extraction capacity is as follow: Pu3+>Am3+>Cm3+. (authors)
