Natural radioactive discrimination to determine air contamination levels of workplaces

  • 1. Pusat Teknologi Bahan Bakar Nuklir - BATANB, Kawasan Puspiptek Serpong, Tangerang Selatan 15314 (Indonesia)

Description

The existence of natural radioactivity that is measured in the footage must be discriminated (separated) by utilizing the differences in the nature of the half-life of both radioactivity, namely by delaying the counting of a few moments to give the chance of decaying radioactive nature so that it can be ignored. The purpose of this study was to determine air contamination caused by Uranium decay after discrimination against radioactive nature. This research was carried out by sampling air, contaminants and air with contaminants. The highest alpha air contaminant activity is found in room's 5 which is equal to 0.022 Bq/m3. All results of the calculation of air contamination are still below the threshold set by MPC (Maximum Permissible Concentration) which is under 2 Bq/m3. (author)
