Fuel prices and excise Duty Policy in European Road Traffic 1980-1999

Description

The aim of the study is to gain insight into the most recent development in the structure of fuel prices in the European Union (EU). With this analysis, a picture can be obtained of the real-price development of the fuel price in the EU and in the Netherlands. The consequences of European and national excise duty measures taken by the member states for price differences with neighbouring countries is clarified in order to indicate the opportunities for Dutch excise duty policy to adjust fuel prices. In addition, the development of the average European fuel prices will be studied. 12 refs
