Life and performance of ZrO2-based oxygen sensors
- 1. Honeywell Inc., Bloomington, MN
Description
The authors have fabricated both differential (concentration-cell-type) and absolute (electrode-active, self-referenced-type) sensors with sputtered and thick-film electrodes and have investigated the effects of long-term exposures to various environments (up to 4000 h at 7000C) by monitoring sensor output and impedance. Physical changes of the Pt electrode and ZrO2-electrolyte structure were investigated by scanning electron microscopy. The life-test results of differential sensors show decreases in sensor conductivities and output with age
