Gamma-ray spectra and energy deposition for type Ia supernovae
Description
The standard model for SNIa involves the partial incineration of a carbon-oxygen white dwarf. Confirmation or rejection of the model awaits observation of the large gamma-ray fluxes expected when the supernova ejecta become sufficiently transparent that a large fraction of the gamma rays escape with little or no interaction. This paper presents results of Monte Carlo calculations of the gamma-ray spectra for a grid of models that spans the parameter space associated with the radioactive decay model of SNIa. 32 references
