Description
Spin precessions of the 6.13 MeV 160(3-) state have been measured at initial ion velocities of 1.5 vsub(o) and 3.0 vsub(o) (vsub(o) = c/137) in polarized Fe and Ni hosts. The velocity dependence of the transient magnetic field is well explained with measured K-shell vacancy fractions of O-ions in Fe. The results do not support the empirical linear velocity dependence of transient fields. (orig.)
