Description

Mean electron density in the ionosphere E-layer within the region, where measurements were conducted simultaneously by means of EISKAT incoherent scattering device, is evaluated according to the data on auroral scattering amplitude and drift velocity, obtained during STARE experiment 17.12.83. It is shown, that the electron density values, forecasted on the basis of STARE data, differ from the real ones, measured by EISKAT device by no more, than 2 times, while in 70% cases - no more, than by 1.5 times. Possible reasons for measurements noncorrespondence and the ways to increase the accuracy of the radiolocation technique for electron density diagnostics in the ionosphere are discussed
