GIM model and the spin structure of the proton
- 1. Inst. of High Energy Physics, Serpukhov (USSR)
Description
Recent measurements of the structure functions of a polarized proton in the EMC experiments revealed a serious discrepancy between the right- and left-hand sides of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rules. It is shown that the use of an SU(4) -symmetry scheme in analyzing axial-vector transitions in accordance with the GIM model significantly changes the relation between the singlet and nonsinglet parts of the Ellis-Jaffe sum rule partially helps to solve the problem of the spin crisis
