Analysis of radiative events in the deep inelastic ep scattering with the H1 detector at HERA

Description

In this thesis a first systematic analysis of radiative deep inelastic events with tagged photons in deep inelastic ep-scattering at HERA is presented. The data has been recorded with the H1-detector at HERA in the first run period in fall 1992. The analysis of radiative events is based on an integrated luminosity of Lint=22.5 nb-1 in the sample of low four-momentum transfer (Q2<100 GeV2) resp. Lint=23.8 nb-1 in the sample of high four-momentum transfer (Q2>100 GeV2). The number of the observed events and the shape of all spectra of the measured radiative events are in good agreement with expectations. The influence of photon radiation on the event kinematics is studied. It is demonstrated that using events with radiation of a photon collinear to the incoming electron a new kinematic domain is accessible which for reasons of the H1-acceptance is inaccessible to nonradiative events.
