RBS investigations of stopping power 1H using thick target
Description
The stopping power of Si, Cd, Fe, Au and YBaCuO for 80-240 keV protons was determined by measuring the absolute backscattering yield of thick targets. The 500 keV accelerator of the Kiev University provided a proton beam of about 1 mcA. This beam was magnetically analyzed to an energy spread of 300 eV (fwhm) for Ep=100 keV. The scattered particles were detected with silicon surface-barrier detector. Overall the energy resolution on the spectrometer device for the 80-240 keV protons did not exceed 16 keV. For the stopping power determination from the surface yield the single collision approximation results of W.K. Chu will be used. These data for Si, Cd, Fe and Au coincide within the experimental error with those published by I.F. Janni
