Application of an expert system in the leak-before-break analysis

Description

The leak before break expert system was developed as a practical tool based on knowledge engineering. The prototype compares the failure curves determined in experiments on 20 MnMoNi 55 pipes for pipes weakened by surface longitudinal or circumferential faults with the load and leak before break curves calculated with the aid of an engineering approximation process. The practical application of the system should make the support and improvement of the structural safety analysis and the prediction of the service life of components under pressure possible. (DG)

Abstract (German)

Der Leck vor Bruch Expertensystem-Prototyp wurde als ein praxisorientiertes, KE (Knowledge Engineering)-basiertes Anwendungswerkzeug entwickelt. Der Prototyp vergleicht die in Versuchen an Rohren (20 MnMoNi55) ermittelten Versagenskurven fuer durch Oberflaechenlaengs- bzw. Umfangsfehler geschwaechte Rohre mit den mit Hilfe ingenieurmaessiger Naeherungsverfahren errechneten Traglast- und Leck-vor-Bruchkurven. Die praktische Anwendung des Systems soll eine Unterstuetzung und Verbesserung der Struktursicherheitsanalyse und der Lebensdauervorhersage von unter Druck stehenden Bauteilen ermoeglichen. (DG)
