Experimental study of two-phase flows with pockets in horizontal pipes
Description
This work concerns the study of diphasic flows with pockets in a horizontal pipe, in the context of petroleum applications. The experimentation required for this study is carried out in a cylindrical pipe with a diameter of 0.045 meters and a length of 50 meters. 11 phase presence probes and 12 static pressure probes allow access to the main kinematic quantities of the flows. The classical methods of statistical analysis are used to study the length of establishment of the regimes, and also to highlight the importance of the phenomenon of coalescence on the stochastic aspect of the flow. These results and the observation of the flows also made it possible to specify the typology of two-phase flows with pockets in horizontal pipe. The interpretation of the principal results is carried out by studying the validity of classical empirical or theoretical models and by applying the general two-phase equations; this last analysis, in which various phenomenological laws are introduced, leads to a law approach of the pressure gradient
