Hard X rays emitted from the θ pinch
- 1. Nihon University, College of Science and Technology, Department of Physics, Tokyo (Japan)
Description
Hard x rays emitted from the slow θ pinch were measured in order to clarify the acceleration mechanism of high energy electrons in the rising axially magnetic field. The conditions for the hard x ray emission were studied by varying the initial gas pressure, charging voltage and the capacity of condenser bank, or by using the various kinds of gases. There are some evidences that the electron acceleration is not due to the single particle induction mechanism. It was found that the hard x rays were mostly emitted from the central volume of the discharge tube rather than from the wall of the tube. (author)
