Dynamic simulation code DYNAC for the PUREX extraction cycle composed of pulse columns

  • 1. Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

A computer simulation code DYNAC which predicts the behaviour of a entire solvent extraction cycle has been developed. This code was developed by introducing a non-equilibrium stagewise model to post-column type contactors, and permits the dynamic variation of the axial holdup profiles in the purex interacting solutes system. Correlations related to hydrodynamic parameters such as droplet diameter, steady-state holdup and back-mixing coefficient, and also correlations of extraction equilibria and mass transfer are also included in it. Good agreement between calculated and experimental concentration profiles for nitric acid/uranium was found, and its applications to process analysis and flowsheet study are currently in progress.
