On formation of limit smooth glass surfaces
- 1. Taganrogskij Radiotekhnicheskij Inst., Taganrog (Russian Federation)
Description
Shears of the K8 and TF1 glasses were studied during irradiation by the known technique. Destruction of glass surface during electron-beam melting is determined by the initial temperature T0, value of absorbed energy volumetric density and annealing temperature Tt-T0. Destruction at the stage of heating melting is determined by thermal shock value, developing even at small densities of the beam energy at low initial temperatures. The main amount of ruptured bonds responsible for the surface shearing is formed in the process of annealing. A satisfactory agreement of resultys calculated using the theory of kinetic strength of materials and experimental data is obtained in the assumption that electron-beam melting value of activational volume is γ = 9x10-22 cm-3
