Description

The growth of the sample dimensions occurring in amorphous alloys irradiated with high energy heavy ions is investigated. The experiments performed to confirm the growth effect and understand its origin, and to demonstrate that electronic energy loss can also be responsible for damage creation in metallic systems are summarized. The irradiation of amorphous Fe85Be15 ribbons is carried out at Ganil. For studying the growth phenomenon, external tensile stresses were applied. Electrical resistance measurements were performed
