A unified model for dissipative heavy-ion collisions
Description
The model is intended to describe collisions between nuclei whose relative velocity is much smaller than the Fermi velocity. Nuclear matter is assumed to behave not much differently from ordinary nuclei. The model is based on known properties of nuclei and does not contain free parameters. All transport coefficients are calculated from the same microscopic picture. Within this model one encounters genuine statistical fluctuations even at zero temperature. They originate from the quantal zero point motion of fer fermions which can make transitions in accord with the Paul; principle. Embedding the source of dissipation in a properly chosen set of macroscopic variables one achieves a better understanding of a broad class of dissipative nucleus-nucleus collisions. (Mori, K.)
