Solar energy in Morocco: towards a regional leadership role?

Description
Morocco aims to increase its share of renewables to 52% of the electricity mix, targeting an installed capacity of 2,500 MWp of residential solar by 2030. In this paper, we explore possible strategies for the development of solar in Morocco, from the perspective of a solar 'hub'. We propose a definition of this notion of 'hub', with an international focus, and present the different forms it could take. We assess Morocco's maturity with respect to the long-term objective of becoming a 'global hub' and propose a typology of possible trajectories

Le Maroc entend porter la part des renouvelables à 52 % du mix electrique et vise une capacite installee de 2 500 MWc de solaire residentiel en 2030. Dans cet article, nous explorons les strategies possibles pour le developpement du solaire au Maroc, dans la perspective d'un 'hub' solaire. Nous proposons une definition de cette notion de 'hub', axee sur l'international, et en presentons des formes possibles. Nous evaluons la maturite du Maroc au regard de l'objectif de long terme de devenir ainsi un 'hub global', et proposons une typologie des trajectoires possiblesAdditional details
