Effect of wave properties of the accelerating-storage complex first-stage annular electromagnet on the azimuthal distribution of magnetic field pulsations

Description

The analytical dependences describing the non-uniformity of azimuthal distributions of a magnetic field caused by the pulsations of the output voltage of power supply are obtained taking into account wave properties of the first stage ring electro-magnet of the accelerating - storage complex. The greatest non-uniformity of a magnetic field is observed at pulsation frequencies 50 and 100 Hz. The calculation of mean square value for distortions of the equilibrium beam orbit caused by the non-uniformity of the azimuthal distribution of the magnetic field with the frequency 50 Hz gives the value 16 mm. Shunting of dipole coils by the resistors with 10 Ohm resitance reduces non-uniformity of the azimuthal distribution of field pulsations and, thus, orbital distortions more than 10 times. The azimuthal non-uniformity of a magnetic field gradient of quadrupole lenses caused by pulsations of power supply doesn't lead to the growth of cross-sectional beam dimensions
