The development of low and zero cobalt hard facing alloys

Creators

  • 1. Cabot Corp., Kokomo, IN (USA)

Description

To minimize the use of cobalt in wear resistant reactor components the properties of a range of alternative wear resistant alloys developed during the last few years are compared with those of the traditional cobalt rich materials. Cobalt-chromium alloys studied are: Haynes stellite 1, Haynes stellite 6, Haynes stellite 21 and nickel-chromium alloys studied are: Haynes 716 alloy, Haynes 721 alloy, Haynes N6 alloy, Deloro 3040 alloy and tribaloy T-700 alloy. In a series of simple laboratory wear tests, the alternative wear resistant alloys have shown much promise
