Toroidal fusion devices ignited by ohmic heating
Description
A toroidal configuration where the fusion ignition may be reached by ohmic heating alone is proposed. It is a hybrid between a tokamak and a diffused pinch. The reversal of a toroidal field in a diffused pinch is replaced by a doublet-like separatrix. Experimental results on mhd stability, especially limiting q-value of the doublet configuration will determine the validity of the scheme. (author)
