Computer tomography in papillary cancer of the renal pelvis ureters

Analysis is made of the results of computer-tomographic examination of 34 patients with defects in the pelvic filling detected on excretory urography. The method of examination is described. It was found that smaller amounts of contrast medium should be used in minor tumor lesions, as well as thin section and magnified images. Pelvic papillary cancer patterns are described and differentials diagnosis made with reontgen-negative concrements, blood coagulums in the renal collecting system and defects in their filling, caused by compression from outside. The role of computer tomography in evaluating the dissemination of the malignant process, as well as the importance of dynamic computer tomography for differentiating hypernephroid cancer from papillary cancer on the basis of tumor vascularization, is emphasized
