Microcomputer-assisted determination of local blood flow by 133Xe

Description

Acute local irradiations may induce extensive and delayed cutaneous and muscular ulcerations. We intended to study the prevalence of vascular factors in their pathogeny in an experimental model developed in pigs. Local clearance curves were assessed after intra-arterial administration of 133Xe and transferred to a micro-computer. A program for poly-exponential curve fitting, written in Asyst langage, has been developed. An iterative curve stripping is performed conventionally and then the coefficients are more precisely determined using a Gauss-Newton method. This program has been tested on experimental data obtained after a 40 Gy local over-exposure

Abstract (French)

Les irradiations localisees aigues peuvent induire a terme des ulcerations cutanees et musculaires de caractere extensif. Afin de determiner l'importance des facteurs vasculaires dans leur pathogenie, des courbes de clairance de 133Xe administre par voie intra-arterielle ont ete acquises sur un modele experimental porcin et transferees sur micro-ordinateur. Un programme, ecrit en langage Asyst, a ete developpe pour effectuer la decomposition de ces courbes poly-exponentielles. L'estimation conventionnelle par peeling de leurs coefficients est suivie d'une determination plus precise par la methode de Gauss-Newton. L'efficacite de ce programme est testee sur des donnees experimentales recueillies apres surexposition locale a une dose de 40 Gy
