Thermal study on geological repository for radioactive waste
- 1. Sato Kogyo Co., Ltd., Tokyo (Japan)
Description
This paper describes a study on the thermal effect of Hull waste packages which are designed to be disposal in deep geological repositories. Unsteady heat transfer analysis was performed on a parameter of following factors. Type (silo type or tunnel type), size and cover depth of a repository. Distance between disposal caverns. Distance between waste packages. Cooling time before final disposal. Some useful conclusions concerning about cooling time and distance between waste packages etc. were obtained from the point of thermal safety. (author)
