The status of the ion source DECRIS

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (Russian Federation). Lab. of Nuclear Reactions

Description

The design of the ECR multicharged ion source DECRIS (Dubna ECR ion source) is described and the first test results are presented. The DECRIS consists of two stages. At the first stage a cold plasma is ignited and then diffuses towards the second stage with the 'minimum B' confinement. Both stages have the magnetic mirror configuration. The results of testing with N2, O2 and Ar are shown. 3 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs
