Parameters for radioecological assessment models, default values, reliability, uncertainties and geographical limitations

Description

The usual way to calculate the intake of radionuclides by man is by radioecological pathway models. The quality of the calculation depends on the quality of models and parameter values. Presently pathway models are well documented and the main problem is the reliability of parameters. The IAEA and IUR initiated therefore the preparation of a handbook with reference values for the most commonly used transfer parameters in radioecological assessment models. Parameter values are given as ''expected values''. It is reported how these values were derived, what problems were met and how they are solved. Quantitative examples are included. (orig.)
