Description

A Beam Position Monitors (BPM) system in needed for the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron (RCS) in China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) to calculate and record beam position. It introduces the realization of the functional prototype of the BPM readout electronic system, including the architecture of the electronic hardware, the Analog Front-end (AFE) design, the digital Front-end (DFE) design, and the development of FPGA firmware. The AFE is the most important and the most difficult part because of the varying beam parameters. Therefore, it describes the realization of a new type of analog circuit in detail. The primary test results are also provided. The prototype meets the basic system demands and could contribute to the future commissioning of CSNS RCS. (authors)
