Description

79Se is a β-decay, long-lived radionuclide mainly produced by fission or neutron capture reaction. 79Se has a promising application in the field of nuclear waste storage, astrophysics, and biomedicine. The experiment data of the cross section of 78Se(n, γ)79Se reaction is still gained due to restriction of measurement techniques. This paper introduced the measurement of the cross section of 78Se(n, γ)79Se reaction based on the 79Se highly sensitive measurement method established in the accelerator mass spectrometry system of China Institute of Atomic Energy. 79Se was produced by irradiating the natural samples of Selenium and the general neutron flux (Φ) was monitored by zirconium slice. Then the 79Se/78Se radio (R79/78) of the irradiated sample was determined by AMS to achieve the measurement of the 78Se(n, γ)79Se reaction cross section. (authors)
