Corrosion behaviour of aluminium plates in aqueous medium
Description
The process of corrosion concerning the aluminium 1050 plate was studied at room temperatures, 45 and 600C in deionized water, the same Argonauta Reactor Water. Beyond the temperature influence, it was verified the effect of chloride ion and oxygen. It ws found that the amount of oxyde formed at room temperatures is almost negligible; at 45 and 600C the samples were covered with bayerita, the quantity of oxide formed at 450C being higher than at 600C. It was observed that there will be risk of corrosion in the case of Reactor Water to undergo contamination with chloride ions. The results have shown that the material can be used since the medium don't be strongly oxidizing. At potentials higher than - 900M sup(V) ess (-280 m sup(V) sub(H)), the material will undergo pitting corrosion. (Author)

O processo de corrosao do aluminio 1050 sob a forma de chapa foi estudado nas temperaturas ambiente, 45 e 600C em agua deionizada, a mesma utilizada no Reator Argonauta. Alem da influencia da temperatura, foi avaliado tambem o efeito de ions cloreto e do oxigenio. Verificou-se que a quantidade de oxido formado a temperatura ambiente e praticamente desprezivel mesmo apos 50 dias de ensaio; a 45 e a 600C os corpos de prova ficaram totalmente cobertos de bayerita, sendo que a quantidade de oxido formado a 450C e maior que a 600C. Observou-se que havera risco, no ponto de vista de corrosao, no caso da agua do reator sofrer contaminacao com ions cloreto. Constatou-se tambem que o material podera ser utilizado desde que o meio nao seja fortemente oxidante. Em potenciais de eletrodo superior a-900m sup(V) ess (-280m sup(V) sub(H)) o material sofrera corrosao por pite. (Autor)Files
