Application of advanced types of Ir-192 and Ta-182 sealed sources in brachytherapy. Prospective Sm-145 and Pd-103 sealed sources
Description
Radiobiological effects of gamma radiation are outlined, prospective sources for brachytherapy are compared with conventional sources, and the feasibility of clinical application of palladium 103 and samarium 145 is discussed. The preparation of 103Pd and 145Sm sealed sources is described with special reference to the LVR-15 reactor and U 120 M accelerator. Advances in brachytherapy planning are highlighted. (P.A.)
