SS 433: a double jet in action

  • 1. Cambridge Univ. Inst. of Astronomy (UK)

Description

The possibility is discussed that the remarkable moving emission lines of SS 433 originate in cool blobs accelerated in a double jet. Further observations of SS 433 may clarify the formation of the double and triple structures seen in many quasars and radio galaxies, as well as in Sco X-1. (author)
