Convection in melt during liquid-phase epitaxy of Pbsub(1-x)Snsub(x)Te

Description
Calculation of the Relay criterion has been carried out for the case of liquid-phase epitaxy of Pbsub(1-x)Snsub(x)Te on the base of measurement results of the density and viscosity of three-component liquides in the Pb-Sn-Te system. Calculations has been carried out by the method of forced cooling. The value of the Relay criterion increases with the increase of the growth rate, tellurium and tin concentration. Under ordinary conditions of liquid-phase epitaxy the film growth occurs from the hydrodynamically unstable liquid. The data obtained permit to explain the deterioration of the film surfase quality with the increase of the lead telluride concentration in the solid solution being grown
