Coordinate regulation of the exocellular proteases in Neurospora crassa

Description
When cells of N. crassa are starved for nitrogen, sulfur, or carbon and energy, and protein is sole source of these nutrilites, specific inhibition studies, electrophoresis and immunological assays suggest that at least two of the exocellular proteases synthesized (an alkaline and a neutral protease) in response to these conditions are the same, regardless of limiting nutrilite. This implies a coordinate regulation of these enzymes. (U.S.)
