Method for disposal of liquid radioactive wastes containing detergents

Description
Liquid radioactive waste which is generated from washing contaminated laundry is alkalized by hydroxide or calcium oxide to pH>10.5. A precipitate is generated which contains most of the activity and is processed using routine methods. The advantage of the said process is its simplicity, low energy demand and the reduction in the content of radioactive elements and detergents in discharged waters. (E.S.)
